When it comes to skin rejuvenation treatments, sometimes less is more. However, sometimes the best way to achieve the best possible result is by teaming up multiple treatments at once. Injectable treatments like filler and pdo threads are very popular treatments with our injector here at Coco Med Spa in St. Pete. They can both stand alone as treatments for various concerns but did you know that they can also produce incredible rejuvenating and youthful results when used together?
How do Filler and PDO Threads work?
When it comes to anti aging and skin rejuvenation, Injectable filler is used as a volumizing tool to improve a deficit or loss in volume. PDO threads, lift and reposition sagging skin and areas where fat pads have moved in the face due to the laxity that comes with anti aging.
How do they work together?
Our nurse injector Amy has a tremendous following of loyal clients for services combining pdo thread lifts and filler. She prefers to use the two together when necessary and possible to create the most natural and realistic results. When injectors try to correct volume loss due to sagging and shifted fat pads with filler alone, it can result in altering the face shape excessively by overfilling the areas where the client desires fullness without remedying the shifted fat pads like jowls in the lower face. Alternatively, Amy suggests it can be best to use pdo threads to lift and reposition the skin and fat pads first, then to inject filler accordingly.
Why do they work together?
One reason using pdo threads and filler together as a good option is timing. Filler in the cheeks can last for about a year in most folks although the lower face may be more like 6-9 months due to high dynamic movement in that area. PDO Threads take about 6 months to dissolve and it is generally a yearly treatment. Threads give an instant lift but they also provide a collagen-stimulating benefit by actually causing the skin to develop more of its own collagen as they dissolve. Therefore, after 6-9 months, your skin is naturally firmer and more lifted, without the need for additional filler for that purpose.
Which option is right for me?
It is important to know that not everyone is a candidate for lifting threads. Sometimes there is too much skin laxity, and smooth threads (that boost more collagen) or other treatments are required. It is important to consult with your medical skincare professional to determine if threads, filler, or both are the right option for you.
